my 17 year old cousin

Met up with my cousin and her friend, Jo, yesterday, who came down to London to go shopping instead of going for their university open house. Of course, her teacher in boarding school, knew the tricks that these students were up to, and refused to let her go. In a moment of desparation, she wrote the following letter that somehow (I don't know how) managed to convince him (bet he admitted defeat after reading it) and get her through:

Dear Sir,

If I may be so bold as to ask:

Are we not all human? Are we not all slaves to our flesh and blood, slaves to our feelings and emotions through the prison of which our minds struggle to gain control over ourselves, to strive towards the light of hope and kindness and justice and all things good in this harsh yet beauteous reality? And thus, should we not conduct ourselves, in all things, with at least a touch of sentimentality? Would giving me the permission to leave school for a night nd a day be too much to ask? I would not be missing any more lessons than if I were to leave the next morning. I would still miss the lessons on Wednesday when I leave for the open day the next morning.

On Wednesday there is only a half-day's worth of lessons after which students will be allowed to miss prep for the New Year's Dinner. The school has dispensed, with grace, that gesture of sentimentality to those who wish to accept it; will you not dispense on me mine?

I am not returning home till the end of June, Sir, and have already missed one New Year's with my family and will continue to lose more whilst I pursue my studies here. Your whole family, Sir, lives here. Sir, I am sure you know that giving to those less fortunate than you, even one given at a whim and at no expense to self, is worth of praise and respect. We have been given two eyes Sir and along with it, as a proof of our humanity, we have been given the ability to leave one open while closing the other. After attending the opening day, I will only have mere hours with my cousin to pass the Lunar New Year. However, I am grateful for every second and I will not ask for more. Please Sir, what more reason would you need me give you in order for you to perform a single act of charity?

Once more, please grant me permission Sir and I apologize for causing any inconvenience to you.

Thank you for the time you have spent in reading this letter.

Yours Faithfully,
******

p.s. As for reasons, I do have more. However, please pardon me if I do not find it necessary for it to be known to others except for a select number of my family and friends.

How cheeky - Claiming to miss me so as to get to stay at my place for the night. I take my hat off her. And to top it off, she's only 17. Can't imagine a few more years down the line. I finally understand now why she's doing Psychology.

Happy CNY to all.

Da Sotong

I can't believe it... Spent 45 mintues last night day-dreaming about army and some other stuff :( Argh~!

Was thinking about some stuff again today while studying and argh, couldn't go back to my books after that. So I collapsed on the table and whined to Shin Yee. I felt her patting my head, and then tickling me. But then after that, she started giggling an
d the tickle felt strange. I turned around... Damn it THURSTON!!! I'm so going to kill you the next time I see you.

Then just as I was about to carry on with my work, Shin Yee asked

"What are you studying?"

"Cardio..."

"It's not coming out right coz it's part of the..."

"Argh! Seen PBLs... Damn, I must be day-dreaming man!"

Can't believe that I spent the afternoon looking at PBLs that aren't going to come out. Only
consolation that I have is that I renew my knowledge and that it is kinda relevant to some of the questions coming up :( But oh well. Feel like a sotong now. Sulks~ (And now Shin Yee comes to tell me to do my work and not blog... Urgh!)

Talking about sotong, I was at Ryan's place the other day when Jeff and me saw this article.

Now, this is a species of squid known as the Colossal Squid. I know, many of you are thinking Giant Squid but no, it's not that. Colossal squids are a species of squids that living in the Antarctic waters. This specimen caught measured 10m long and is the largest caught so far. But because of the extreme habitats in which these animals live in, chances are that there are larger ones roaming around in the oceans. At an estimated length of 12-14m, they are the largest of the invertebrates (without spine) in the animal kingdom. While the gender of this squid caught is unknown, due to the great sexual dimorphism (variation) in squids, if this was a male, who knows how long a female is man.

Imagine the number of (huge) calamari rings that you could make from it, lol! And indeed, it's been estimated that each calamari ring made from it will be the size of a tractor wheel (1). Yum yum! Haha. Jeff, you can start having all the squid balls that you want now :p

Okay, back to work...

Hey Ah-nie... I see you're enjoying yourself over in the States. Hope you're not feeling too lonely over there. Sorry I didn't get to say a proper goodbye and apology before you left. Enjoy yourself girl~

To the sibling of strawberry: It really hurts to see you like that. Yet I don't know how to help you especially when you can't bring yourself to say a thing. Can imagine how distressing it must be when your exams are in 2 weeks time, coz mine's in 1! Hang in there tiger, will be back soon already.

Coincidence?

Yoz, hope you are all right... Remember, help is always available =)

P.S: And I'm sorry for always making you jealous.

Getting away with things

I feel weak... Why do I allow myself to be bullied easily sometimes? Yew Song is right, sometimes I take it for granted that I come from a well-to-do family and get away with situations by paying fines and stuff, when in fact, all these were avoidable. This is one of the big fines that I've gotta pay so far. Gotta remind myself with this post to be strong and not do it again!

The Ultimate Dream Car

I don't know why I have this bad habit of blogging when it's near/during my exams! Argh~ QR, sorry I can't call you to find out about your Pepsi-cola date with Utt now. Haha. My new phone contract doesn't give me free minutes to Singapore =( Urgh! I swear I'm going to terminate the contract in Dec. And Jocey, how was your holiday in Paris? Let me know all right.

Anyway, just for a break, has anyone ever thought of what kind of car they want to get? You know... Many people in army start talking about cars, modifying the engine parts and stuff, or even what their dream car is. I don't know why I never got much into those stuff. Not sure whether it was because I found it boring or was too practical myself then to even start thinking of what kind of "stylistic" car I would want. I remember... Fabian (my fellow storeman) brought his car to camp once and horned outside the gate. I swear I almost burst out laughing though as I walked towards him... the horn sound was "Oh Susanna". Lol!
So, the question that many (men) always ask themselves: Which car should I get? Will it be a...
Toyota Celica (Wooh, I've driven this car before coz it's my cousin's... Bad thing was I could only hit the 3rd gear at the most, coz I was driving around the neighbourhood with my mom keeping an eye on me. I had just passed then, you see... Lol! Should definitely pay him a visit this summer) ?

RX7...?

Or the... Fujiwara Tofu Shop Car (from Initial D)

Now I have to say that the Fujiwara Tofu Shop Car that Takumi drives is a classic. Many people around the world do indeed have the real-life version of this anime car. Matthew was even upbeat about it at one point and thinking of getting one himself. Lol (Though I think he's switched his mind to a R4). I have to admit that I did too :p Oops!

Just as I was thinking about all this, I stumbled upon this article on the news...

Lol, now tell me... How enticing would it be to drive around London (or even Singapore) where parking prices are horrendously expensive priced at say 3-5 pounds per entry, and not having to pay for your parking ticket/coupon? The article even mentions: Even the police don't know whom they should catch. Lol! No wonder they call it the G-Wiz (it's a slang for" Oh my!" among the Brits...)

Toilet Seat Motivator

Na... Cherie Tan: The Urinal Post is here. I posted it in the last post what. Really never read properly... Haiyo! (Be sure to read the comments else you won't understand what's going on).

Anyway, forgot that the Toilet Seat Lifter was found courtesy of Diana. Thank you Diana =)

Was talking in Floyer with Shin Yee's housemates a couple of days back about some guy who dumped a whole stack of sanitary pads into their toilet bowl and choked it. Lol. All the girls started suspecting which one of the guys did it. Poor Aaron... Oops, haha! And then we naturally got on to the topic of the Toilet Seat Lifter again. Haha. And then Thurston mentioned a story that inspired me to try this at home. Instead of the Toilet Seat Lifter, we now have the...

Toilet Seat Motivator

Lol, imagine waking up every morning to that. I bet even a dog will lift the seat up and pee if it needs to. That's provided it's not a bitch of course :p Have a nice day!

Toilet Seat Lifter

Now now now... Does anyone remember the special urinal and toilet seat lifting post that we were discussing about? It's here just to recap your memories.

Guess what, there is such a thing available on the market!

Link: Toilet Seat Lifter on Amazon

Lol, even I can believe it. If only Junie and I had patented our products, we could be earning US$30 per bucket. (Who knows they may have stolen the idea from our site :p)

Was talking to a friend now... She was talking about the competition to get a job for our future medical careers. Like how results and stuff like that mattered now that the UK's medical recruitment programme is based on school rankings. True enough, results matter to get a better job indeed. But should that really be the driving aim for us? I don't know... Ended up arguing with her, and my phone died on me. I never meant for it to be an argument lor. Why is it difficult for you to respect my idea and me to respect yours? Is it really that hard? We can't always be thinking we're right, can we? Then again, I might have thought that I was right too. Maybe that's why.

Man, it's really sad... I have to admit that sometimes when these sort of competition comes up, it brings out the worst in us (and that includes me I have to say). We start to become competitive and stuff, and it becomes really bad when someone would harm another just to get his/her own way. If only one could bury the attitude, things would be so much more pleasant. Right now, I must admit that I'm studying for my exams to try and do well. Why? Coz good results matter. But at the same time, I'm trying to learn whatever I can to at least feel that bit of adequateness in treating in treating patients in the future. If only one could bury that attitude in being competitive, it would be so much fun to learn from each other, to share and discuss new knowledge for the benefit of everyone. Isn't that how studying is supposed to be?

In a way, it's like a relationship you know... Sometimes you try so hard to make things happen, things just don't work out. But when you least expect, and things come coz you're doing it naturally, isn't it pleasant and nice? Maybe it's still wishful thinking, but let's bury it man. Ah-nie, sorry I didn't agree with what you were saying there. Perhaps it's my naiveity that one can feel good learning and not feel the competitiveness when it comes to applying for a job. Perhaps you're right, I'll be like that in the future, but I'll keep that in mind and try not to let it get too much into me. I understand what you mean, it's not that I don't, or else I won't admit that I may be like that. You know, I just hope we can all be happy.

The Bread Shop (Part 1)

Yawnz (I'm not tired!!!)...

I've been up for 2 hours now and done jack! Still on the first page of my notes. Bah! And my final's in 3 weeks time. Oh well~ Haha.

Why is everyone asking me to blog? Lol, I don't think it's coz I'm popular... No. Don't force me. I'll get writer's block (or is it more of my pure laziness). Finally I can understand why Inoue Takehiko doesn't want to come up with Slam Dunk 2. Anyway, it's finally time to get out of the lazy habit, and do something productive. Like today, I finally washed my muddy shoes from 1 month's ago paintballing. Eewww... Gross! Haha.

I haven't been contacting ppl much. Don't know why... Just feel quite all right to be like this. As long as one's happy I guess. But I still love you guys, so yeah, don't think I've forgotten you all. Jiahui, I'm not sure if I can still come down to Australia. Air ticket company has yet to contact me, and I'll be a little busy and tight. I'll let you know the result whatever it is.

Jeff and me were discussing about this bread shop near our place. I've been walking past it at night, and noticed the countless amounts of bread thrown away. It's really such a waste, when these could have gone to the poor around the Whitechapel (speaking of which... Whitechapel is the area I live in now. There's no white chapel around here... Only a mosque in the vicinity. It's aka Arab street to us) area, or to poor students like us :D

In the end, we decided: why not go ask the shop owner for some? After all, we've patronised her shop quite a few times, and she knows us well enough to put my purchases on the tab when I didn't bring enough money. What a nice lady! But it will be a real dilemma for her really coz if she gives us bread, we won't go to her to buy our own. Yet it's really such a waste to see all of it in the bin. I swear they smell so good I've even thought of picking up the ones which have not touched the sides of the bin while the bakers were not looking. Haha.

So we finally decided to use some psycho tricks taught to us by our other housemates - Make the person feel good b4 getting a request. Just gotta include it in our OSCEs practice revision now. And this is the result of our role-playing:

Role-playing practice

Pei Kee (with Jeff): Hello, it's us again... How's it going? (Does this sound familiar?)

Shop owner: Hello boys. We're fine. What can I get for you?

Pei Kee: Let's see... We'll have the double chocolate and blueberry muffin, the chocolate-chip cookies, one loaf of wholemeal bread, and the cheesecake (I swear it's in no way cheesecake, it's coconut-flake cake the last time I bought it. They just call it cheesecake coz it looks like one).

(Trick: You've gotta pretend to buy loads and make her feel good remember?)

Shop owner: That's quite a handful you've got there. Erm, total's 5.40 pounds please.

Pei Kee (Goes for the kill): Yeah, what to do... We're hungry boys after all. Btw, we've been passing by your bread shop at night, and we noticed all those bread going into the bin. Doesn't anyone want them? It's such a waste really, coz your bread tastes so good.

Shop owner (flattered): Really? Aww, that's so sweet of you.

Pei Kee (The final stroke... Bankai!): Well, if nobody wants them, we'll have some of it. After all, it's a real pity such good bread goes to waste.

Shop owner: Aww, that's so thoughtful of you boys. All right, tell you what... Come at 9pm at night whenever you boys want some bread. I'll get the bakers to keep some for you. How's that sound?

Pei Kee (Looks at Jeff): Perfect. Mmm... Yum yum! I can't wait to try your other varieties. Haha.

Shop owner (proud by now): You'll be impressed, my love. I shall go speak to them lot now. Take care now~

Pei Kee: Okay, thanks a lot. Bye!

Now I'm sure anyone would be flattered by those little tricks of ours. And to prove it, we'll be going by the shop sometime soon to try it. Just you lot wait for Part II.

I was reading your blog and saw this post of yours. I see your tears girl, and I'm sorry I've neglected them. This nostalgic song's for you (It accompanied me through my loneliest times and I hope it'll make you strong just as it has done for me).

**Back to work...

Back

Yeap, I know everyone would probably think this blog's dead. I don't know why... But I finally feel well enough to post stuff up after listening to some nostalgic music. Well, 1 a.m. and I'm tired now. Haha! Well, at least there's a start =)

Me, Myself and You

Okay, I didn't post the stuff below. I'm sure anyone could tell that my housemates did. And no, shit... It's rubbing in again, stupid ass. The stupid bitch (not my dear bitch) posted the damn disclaimer. I swear I'll kill her one day if I have the chance to.
I'm sorry I haven't blogged for quite a while. Been feeling a bit moody since I was back. But at least, now I kinda know what I want down here. I've actually written quite a few postcards, but yet to send them out...
And before I forget,
HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY YILING You'll get your present soon hopefully... (Stupid bitch, just told me you're coming down. Thank god I didn't send the parcel up).
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY YINGHUI Thanks for the songs, and be glad I'm using ur favourite yellow yellow dirty fellow colour :p
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY BRO I'm sorry I've not been a good bro. Know you were the first to msg me this year, and I had to forget and end up being the last to wish you while you were outcamp. Haha! But you know I still love you. Come quick! I miss you. Michelle, you and I can go on a holiday =) Damn, if only there was someone with me.

All right, believe you should be in for a treat if u're still reading this blog =) Ever watched how Anakin Skywalker turned into Darth Vader. Now here's a replica. And here he is...
Before and...

after

Okay, don't ask me why I did this. In any case, it's done. Haha! Now, I've repaired the tagging so go ahead and shoot me however much you want to. To you, erm everyone, and haha everyone, yar basically everyone: I'm all right in case you were wondering.

Disclaimer: if on any of my future blogs I report that the previous entry is fake, that's not true!!!

Thoughts reflecting housemates

Having come to live in a house full of Singhs, I feel like giving them all blowjhobis (blowjobs in punjabi).......sorry, i've been singh-ified!

I have been handcuffed to a tree for my bday, given a cup showing a picture of a scantily clad (v. v. beautiful) woman who will reveal all when the contents are warmed up, obviously, by me.

Further, I am overjoyed to be living in a house with most whose hobbies are playing computer games. We battle daily and indulge in mercyless killings. Whoo hoo.

My weekly chores include washing the toilet bowl (the subject of which i am v. well versed in), cooking (it has thus improved from the sludge that it was, to a meal worth of the queen), and picking my toes.

So Little Time

Only 2 weeks left before it's time to fly back. And I've still not met up with quite a number of people. Including her... Well, doubt I'll meet her though, coz it doesn't seem as if she wants to meet up.

I feel as if there's limited time for us in our lives. There's limited time for me to pack for my trip to Korea this Saturday, and yet I'm still sitting down here at 2+ in the morning waiting for the England match. This makes me all the more tired, and I'll probably wake up at 3 again tmrw. And to think of it, there'll only be 3 days after I come back from Korea to pack my stuff for UK. Sometimes, ppl just don't change... Just like Crystal and Yew Song. I think we can form a group called the last-minute kings already.

Finally, army's finished. Just left a day to go collect my NRIC. The asses have been burning my offs the whole of last week. Then what for give me off when u're going to burn it? So that I have the advantage of booking-in in civi, and coming in at 8. It's still almost the same lor. And haha, my stupid boss. Have got this friend who has ORD-ed and doesn't like him at all, just like me. And the minute my boss calls him out for steamboat to treat the both of us, he'll say he is busy. Lol, I just don't know how to laugh at him. But it's not easy being a boss lar I must say. Sometimes u wonder whether u're too harsh, and sometimes whether u're too lenient. I hope that I'll not commit the same mistakes when I was the store-ic back then. All the storemen ended up learning how to drive army vehicles...

Now, about the trip to Korea. Guess who's my partner going with me? IT'S MY MOM!! Can anyone believe it? Haha. Even Yew Song was laughing at me, wondering how boring it'll be for me. Okay, I'm quite a boring person too, so maybe for her as well. And we're going to Jeju where Winter Sonata was filmed. Right! I'm beginning to wonder how many couples there'll be who'll be gossiping about us. How sad man... Is it coz my bro's going to KL to visit his gf, and my mom's taking pity on me. Argh, whatever, I'm not going to think man.

Oh, called my ex on her bday, but couldn't get to her. Anyway, if u're reading (though I doubt u'll coz u don't have this site's address... and why am i publishing this?), happy birthday.

Football's starting. Come on England...

My 2nd Punishment

I've been irritated these past few days after not receiving money to pay for rental this month. To top it off... It's not just this month, but last as well (okay except for one who payed). I'm already 4 days late... And yet I still can't pay the landlord! Ah god, why do I always have to wait this long? I don't mind paying for one person first, but when 4 people don't pay, I can't even do a thing you understand? Urgh! I'm already busy with army, don't tell me you're more busy than me? Or is it coz no one bothers to check out their e-mails. Seriously, I must say, I can understand why people are irritated when one doesn't reply to SMSes. It's actually just a matter of making the effort for a few minutes. But it's probably the laziness seeping into everyone, now that it's holiday time. Even I myself have done it before... So I shan't blame anyone. But please, pay me!!!

Speaking about army, I just got myself into trouble. Nights off and stayout previlege has been taken off me for not booking in/out of camp... My 2nd punishment since the start of army. Not bad I must say in my own opinion. But argh... It's for a month. Plus we got to go back and work on the weekends as well. Isn't it as good as SOL (Stoppage of Leave)? I almost said that, but thank god I didn't... Or else my boss will start marking me. I bet they did this coz of the inspection that's coming up this month. They want us to work like slaves for them without giving us any off. How smart. Out of about 100 people, only 7 didn't commit the offence. As good as mass free labour, ain't it?

Perhaps I've been induced with too much of the drivers' mentality. I must say I don't really like drivers... But after working in the place for so long... I must say they do take the piss out of you at times when they get lazy, but other than that, they're a great bunch when it comes to helping one another. Okay, maybe not all... But at least, they are mostly humble. That's what I like about them. Perhaps army wasn't such a waste of my time after all. Made me realise the values that are important to me. I hope that's what you like about us, Crystal... About VS guys.

Another boss asked if I wanted him to speak on my behalf coz I'm good friends with him for a long time plus he knows I've only got one month of service left, and I only didn't sign out for a couple of days. How tempting isn't it? But I rejected... Bet M.O. and Crystal will call me a fool for this.

But nvm, I hope u all understand why.

Updates Updates

It's only a month till I start clearing my leave. Yay! Feel damn shiok.

Today is Jiahui's and Papa's birthday.

It's so easy to remember. They fall on the same day. If I forget about one, all I just have to do is to remember the other and I'll remember it. Haha!

Sorry, couldn't call you coz I can't access my UK handphone. Didn't bring back the battery to charge it. Bought my dad some brownies instead. He's so health conscious that cream food is permanently banned, so I've always got to think of alternatives to buy. Person who marries me has to remember this too :p

Didn't mention this the other day... I pushed someone else's trolley for at least 5 - 10 minutes till I reached the counter. And it was almost full. Feel so sorry for the person. Has to take everything all over again. I hope she found back her trolley though :p

And I went for the modelling interview in case you guys didn't know. But I doubt I'll take the offer after listening to some life story advice from M.O. again. Have got to go sleep now. Just came back from camp. Shagged!

The Army Mood

Haven't blogged in such a long time, I feel as though I should perhaps leave my blog alone during the summer. But after persuassion from some people, I feel... ... well, let's just say slightly motivated again. To those who have been patiently going to my blog every day, thank you very much. I appreciate your patience. That's it.com

Army's been taking the mood out of me. I'm back to my usual self again. M.O thinks it's the anti-hypertensives that's making me look dazed. It's not dude. Lotsa work to do in work that I tend to ignore some calls or msgs unless they're really important. Go home, and the first thing I do is to play my Winning 11, or look for things to download. Other than that, it's just eat or sleep, or meeting up with friends. Well, I must say I'm glad to be doing some stuff again. Such as the usual pool tournaments with our dear friend M.O. I must say he's such an ass. When he loses one game, he'll say "Okay, best of 3/5" and then he'll go on to win those games. What an ass u know! Lose already keep playing more till he wins. I swear, there's no else who will win like that other than him.

Yesterday... Met Clarissa for jap dinner. Stupid Matt went to watch Singapore Idol, and was swinging the banner around. Didn't even call me to go. But what can I say? Shinmin didn't even go. Haha! I was working the other day when I got a msg from Matt saying "You're an idiot!" Guess who it was - Thng Shinmin! I swear girl, I'm so gonna kill u on Saturday when we go prawning. But anyway, back to Clarissa... Yes, I found out how much of a slacker I've been. She's been doing so much work for SMSL, typing lotsa stuff etc, and here I am slacking at home. God, I felt so guilty I quickly went home to ask about the shirts for SingSoc. Now I just have to wait for Samantha. I think I better buck up this weekend man! Gotta prepare some stuff for the freshers to take home.

Army's been crap. I'm the utility man again, coz I just have to know everything. M.O sometimes says he's never seen a NSF busier than me. I don't know... Somehow I feel it's a responsibility while I'm there. Found out a lot of stupid problems there. Designed a weapon spares database for them to use, and now they're not using it for what it was originally designed for. Just 9 months and it's become like this. I swear! It's the attitude man. Boss asked me to think of a solution to help improve the place. What solution when the ppl are already like this? Otherwise they won't be in army already mah. Asked this Staff Sergeant why he doesn't want to quit? "Good pay for doing nothing, who doesn't want?" What the hell. Made me so pissed that I think I've finally cracked my head and may just have thought of a solution. Let's see if it works!

I've been going out a lot, and hardly have dinner at home now. Feel so bad. Don't even get to have dinner regularly with my dad now that I'm back. In fact, the reason for me being to stay at home everyday is coz of my dad. So sad, I'm not even using my privilege properly. These kinda things really make you think a lot.

And now that I'm back, I suddenly remembered about a promise I made to myself last year. I realised that in the last year, I've really grown quite a bit in my opinion. I've learnt to keep my word better, and suddenly now, promises have suddenly become so important to uphold. It's become somewhat of a principle now. I just hope that I'm finally able to see through my promises, and fulfil this one. That way, I can feel satisfied with my life. A lot of people have said that it's selfish to just think about keeping/upholding the promise you made to yourself. Do you know it really puts me in a tough spot? Seriously, I do waver a little when you guys say that. But a promise is a promise after all as someone once said. It's like a responsibility once you take it. If you can't even keep it, how can people trust you? If you can't even keep a promise with your friend, or even to yourself, then what's the point of even making one? But I really don't like it when girls force promises onto you. They just barge their way through and force you to accept it. Such asses, especially the one who stays in Jurong, such a difficult one (promise) you know. Till the point I'm stuck in the middle on many occasions. But anyway, let's just forget about it now.

AHM training is tomorrow, and they won't let me go running again. Asses! Takes me just half an hour to walk to East Coast Park and what's more I've got a medical appointment in the afternoon to see the cardiologist. I know I've been banned from running, but I can don't report to camp if you allowed me. Ass! Seriously, big time ass! Okay, I know they care about me, but argh, I'm just irritated right now. Off to Blood+ and hopefully some SingSoc stuff later on.

Exams

After wearing boxers around the flat just this week, 4 people have already saw my... (phd) ... Gosh, I so like them, but am reluctant to wear them now. And they called it weeny! You asses, I'll get back at you!

Anyway, today's paper was crazy! But still do-able. Most of us just finished in time, someone finished in 1 hour, instead of 2, while another had loads (she estimated 15) of questions unanswered. Mixed feelings everywhere... Ah, let's just pray. And continue studying for the remaining papers. That's about the only thing we can do now right? So step on the gear man. This is the last week...

Clinical Skills

Okay, the paper B next week, otherwise known as OSCEs, carry a huge 50% for the entire year's marks. It basically consists of looking at histological slides, identifying bones, etc and demonstrating proficient clinical skills such as cardiorespiratory/abdominal examinations, CPR, etc.

I never knew that practising clinical skills could be so fun and funny! Our dear 'auntie' yesterday intended to check my back for sacral oedema (water retention in the lower back). Instead she said "I'm checking for his scrotum (instead of sacral oedema)..." Wahahaha! I just burst out laughing. Okay, let's not be so bad to her.

Then I went to the kitchen to wash my dishes later on, and the 'auntie' said "Come and look for me before you go to bed". Now she got me really curious and suspicious there. My perverseness started kicking in again and I was thinking what on earth did I do just now. Well, I taught her how to perform a cardio examination so maybe she might reward me with... ... ... Hahaha! What stupid thoughts... And before I knew it, my parasympathetic system was activated again, and my little brother stood up, parallel to the ground! And I was wearing my boxers... Argh! You know when the inner part (glans) of your ehem touches something, it will hurt. To conceal my 'little brother' and stop the pain, I had to bend over at the sink to allow the boxers to expand at the front. Well, the trick didn't last for long.

As I thought I wasn't feeling anymore pain, I concluded that 'he' was no longer in the flag raising position. So I stood up normally again. Just then, the 'auntie' asked me some questions, and I started to talk to her. And suddenly, she exclaimed "Oh my god! I can see your little brother sticking out there". I looked down and hold and behold, it was! And oh no, that wasn't the end of it. She went around the flat telling everyone to come and take a look. Thank god 'he' quickly went down and took cover in time. That's it! I don't care what people say anymore. I'll continue being a commando! I love being commando!

Today's England match wasn't that impressive but I'm hoping they'll improve on as the matches continue. Exam stress does get the most crazy part of you! Rama and I had a bathing competition just now to see who could bathe faster. Of course I won! Went into the toilet, took off clothes, bathed, and wore back clothes. All in all, 4 minutes. Still slow compared to army timings when we only rinsed in the water for 30 seconds on the first day. Gosh, I do miss army days even though I'm dreading having to go back this summer. How ironic! But back to studying...

Antihypertensives

Okay, finally got to see the GP today. She said that there was stress on the heart on the ECG, while blood tests were normal. Sounds idiopathic (unknown cause) to me. Just for some of you to know... Idiopathic hypertension is also known as primary hypertension or essential hypertension. Why? Coz people thought that this sort of hypertension was necessary and thus termed it essential when it actually isn't. Hello! I actually do not need hypertension here. Have been changing my diet. Chips's got no salt now, have to use less oyster sauce, and drinking yoghurt drinks to lower down my blood pressure. Urgh!

Anyway, on ACE inhibitors (a class of drug) now. Let's hope that I still ACE the papers when I still have to go to the doctors 2 more times to follow-up: one next week, and one during exam week.

Get Yourself Together

Many people have said that I still am unable to let her go. Haha, I don't know if it's true though I doubt it is... But was studying in Rama's room when he played a song that I had not listened to in quite a while. Helped me pick up myself and get up on my foot.

For Jiahui, Yiling, Junie and Yiwen...
And all you bums who are still slacking and not studying!
